Christian and Debbie Bolz have over 26 years of combined experience in all aspects of surgery, medicine and dentistry. Exceptional service and a high-standard of care are practiced in a relaxed, warm environment.

Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital has been a goal and dream of Drs. Christian and Debbie Bolz since they met during veterinary school in 1997. They love living in Wilmington, where they share their home with their 3 children, 2 dogs (Lily and Pretzel), 2 cats (Rudy and Spot), and 2 fish (Bob and Joe). They are excited to be an active part of their community and provide exceptional veterinary service.

    Christian A. Bolz, DVM

    Dr. Christian A. Bolz received his B.S. degree from North Carolina State University and continued on to earn his veterinary degree from Tuskegee University in 1998. After spending several years gaining experience as an associate small animal veterinarian in New Jersey and Massachusetts, Dr. Bolz moved to North Carolina to be closer to family and warmer weather. For over 3 years he has practiced emergency medicine at Animal Emergency and Trauma Hospital in Wilmington, broadening his skills in emergency surgery and critical care.

  • Debbie Z. Bolz, DVM

    Debbie Z. Bolz, DVM

    Dr. Debbie Bolz received her B.S. degree from Cornell University in 1991. She attended veterinary school at Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine (class '98) and went on to complete an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Animal Medical Center in New York City. Following her internship, Dr. Bolz practiced as an associate veterinarian at high quality, progressive hospitals in New Jersey and Massachusetts. After moving to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2007,  she was a relief veterinarian for several local animal hospitals before opening Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital in August 2009.

  • Nicole M. Ward

    Nicole M. Ward

    Nicole Ward has worked in the veterinary field for eight years both as a veterinary assistant and a receptionist. She graduated from Campbell University in 1996 with a B.A. in Mass Communications and a minor in Graphic Design. She has since furthered her education through San Juan College’s Veterinary Technology Distance Learning Program. Proud to be a Wilmington native, Nicole lives with her husband, Paul, and their seven feline children: Gouhly, Cassius, Henderson, Mercer, Anthony, Julius and Morris. In her spare time, she enjoys competitive running, gardening, reading, petsitting, selling Silpada jewelry and spending time with her adorable neice. Nicole recently completed her first marathon!

  • Kelly Winfree

    Kelly Winfree

    Kelly Winfree began her career in the veterinary field 15 years ago and she is more passionate today about animal medicine than in the beginning. Over the years she have been very fortunate to have gained invaluable experience in most aspects of this profession; especially concentrating on practice management, emergency medicine and small animal preventative care.

    Kelly moved to Wilmington from Raleigh, NC in 2004 with her boyfriend, Stephen. They have two children (four-legged of course): MacKenzie, a five year old Pit Bull / Boxer mix, and Toby, a four year old Rhodesian Ridgeback / Boxer mix. In her free time she enjoys running with her dogs, bike riding and spending time with family and friends.

    Teresa Sheppard

    Teresa Sheppard began her veterinary nursing career over seven years ago when she graduated from Central Carolina Community College in 2004 and became a registered veterinary technician. Since receiving her certification, she has worked at three small animal hospitals in North Carolina and Pennsylvania. Teresa is a newlywed! She lives with her husband, Frank, a thirteen year old domestic longhaired cat named Maddison, a six month old beta named "O" and her sixteen year old senior citizen collie mix named Droz Joeseph Michael. When she is away from Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital, Teresa loves to cook, read, play on the beach and spend time with her friends and family.

  • Richard Quick

    Richard Quick

    Richard Quick began his veterinary career at a local animal clinic in 2005 and later transitioned to emergency and trauma. He joined the Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital team in August 2011 and continues to assist in emergency care. Richard has had many interesting jobs in the past twenty years but none have given him the joy and satisfaction he now has working with animals.

    Richard lives with his wife, Erica, and their three hairy children: Buster Brown, a four year old rat terrier, Jada, a nine year old Beagador and Rings (a.k.a. Kitty), a nine year old tabby cat. Richard enjoys scuba diving, watching movies, kayaking and taking walks with his wife and spoiled dogs.

    April Wood

    April Wood joined the Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital team this past Spring. She has twenty-five years of experience working with animals and has spent eighteen years of them as a certified master groomer. She enjoys working on all breeds of dogs and cats.     Tyler Clabby

    Tyler Clabby began working for Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital in May of 2011. He is a senior at Ashley High School. He is a member of the Beta club, the National Honor Society and the Spanish and French clubs. He enjoys soccer, the beach and hanging out with friends. Tyler is in the process of searching for the perfect college. He loves animals and has owned several different kinds of pets - gerbils, hamsters, fish, rabbits. He lives in Wilmington with his parents, two dogs, Sam and Sophie, and a spicy cat named Zippity!

  • Mollie Philbin

    Mollie Philbin

    Mollie graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2001 and taught elementary school for a few years before having children. She has worked at the Animal Emergency and Trauma Hospital as a receptionist since September of 2009. Mollie joined the Myrtle Grove Animal Hospital team in October of 2011. Mollie loves reading, singing, watching movies and the busyness that comes along with being a mom.
